Where is the Seller Protection?

Sold an item on ebay. Received payment thru PayPal. When received, buyer realized he bought wrong item, wanted to return it. Our ebay listing clearly showed and described the item and that we do not accept returns. Buyer left neg f/b. Then claims to have sent the item back and provided paypal with a USPS Delivery Confirmation number. We never received item and Post Office cannot confirm where it was delivered. PayPal debited our account for the amount the buyer paid despite our listing stating NO RETURNS. Paypal has frozen our PayPal account and refuses to resolve this other than referring this out to collections. I do not have the item we sold and PayPal is demanding that we reimburse them for the money it refunded to buyer.
