Waiting for PayPal to lift account limit

I have a problem with PayPal, my account was limited in December of 2010 because I received more then 2500€ in my account (EU regulation).

22.12.2010 I sent Paypal the copies of my passport, driving licence, and ID card. In January I sent Paypal the copies of my bank account statement, the invoice of insurance from Alianz, my mobile phone invoice, the invoice of my flat, electric bill and so on.

So I have been waiting more than two months for PayPal to lift this limit.
Could you please help me…?

thanks
Patrik

Hello Patrik. Have you called PayPal directly and asked why they have limited your account? You need to get in contact with a supervisor, be persistent but do not be rude or the representative will not connect you with a supervisor (in fact they will hang up on you). The representative has little knowledge about what is going on with your account, and will only rattle off generic statements about policy and such.

Once you get in touch with a supervisor try to find out exactly who it was that made the decision to limit your account. The supervisor will not have much information or the ability to do anything about your account either, you need to contact the person who actually limited the account. Once you find out who this person is you will have to deal with them directly via’ email (they do not accept phone calls). Once again, be persistent but not rude, you will likely have to correspond via’ email for a couple of days. Explain in detail your side of things, and ask them what it is you need to do to get this limit lifted.

I hope this helps. Please update with your progress

I have the same problem. PAY PaL locked my account February 2011 and did not inform me correctly. The reason is that I have received more than 2500 Euro this year to my account. I am a normal person and no remarks what so ever. Why does not Pay PAL advice their customer in advance that they almost reached their limits. Now I can not pay any bills at all. This is a very special way of handling your value added customers that actually brings them their business. I can not contact Pay Pal or even answer their mails. When I answer their mails I need to log in to the Pay Pal system and I am not even sure how to answer them, so I make upload of my answers to their data base with my reference number and at the same time I upload my certified address and valid pasport. I also write a letter in their inbox but I an not sure they read this information Martin

This seems to be the norm with PayPal then? I wonder if there are any other Merchants we could swap to that don’t give you this sort of grief! I too have just scanned and emailed copies of all sorts of documents you can just about think of! As a matter of fact, I actually think in the EU €2500 is too low as receiving limit a year, that should be a month! I am considering kissing goodbye to PayPal for good and trying WorldPay, I understand they are top european Merchant and know what they are doing!

Ah now that was quicker than I thought, after 4 days my account has been restored and limits have been lifted. I guess it depends on which country one is in. But I must admit these last 4 days have caused me soooooooo much stress I don’t think I would ever want to go through anything like that again! My question is : now that these limits have been lifted, what happens now??? Can I send and receive any amount I want???

After making a mistake with my credit card info previously linked to another e mail address, after talking to 6 helpful but not enabled call centre/limitation dept people I finally received an e mail confirmation number telling me my account was reset and I could now activate it. I was told to wait for 24 hrs for system to refresh – its all on tape. After logging in I was informed that my card was disabled. After talking to all these people I finally received an e mail telling me limitations had been placed and I needed to re-verify everything after Pay Pal had reset my data. I asked to be taken off the system but that is not possible. So they have enabled me to log in but do nothing else. I requested on the record three times to speak to a senior manager and none was available/willing to talk. This organization is suspect and operates like a government agency – of the West. In the East they fix transactional problems much faster and are generally more intelligent and user friendly. Be aware when you use and register with these people. Any glitch in the system and they will make you pay for it.
