Smart Connect is Fraudulent
I am very, very angry. Over a year ago I twice used paypal online and it took my money, but did not pay the stores, and then refused to return my money for some months!! So a few months ago when I saw this button for Smart Connect I figured it was a more secure payment method. I also assumed (silly me) that if I didn’t sign up for it it could not be a credit card. But Paypal Smart Connect IS a credit card which changed its name from an account I had signed up for in 2008 and didn’t use – although that was not clarified except in the small print. So I pressed the button to use it, assuming it was a safe way to use paypal. I thought it would use my own funding sources, but in a more secure way. But it used that old credit line. Now they want a $35 late fee. I hate them. Pure and simple. Did I mention I hate them? Oh, customer service was not helpful at all.

Never assume when it comes to paypal. I applied for smart connect but was declined; it turns out that was the best thing for me. A friend of mine used it to try and recover a negative balance and they shut him down.
