Cant Get PayPal Verified
A couple months ago, my bank mistakingly closed my account. I had the bank account linked to my PayPal account, and when this happened PayPal froze my account with them. They said that I had to get verified because I was at the $10,000.00 spending limit, and you have to have an attached bank account to lift the limit.
So I went to the bank and reopened the bank account, and then contacted PayPal customer service and told them that the mistake was corrected. Then PayPal sent me an email, stating that my account had been verified.
Once again, I am being told that I need to get PayPal verified by either getting a PayPal credit card or by linking to my bank account! I have had a PayPal credit card before, but I did not want to keep it so I closed it and am paying it off now. And even though I had my bank account re-opened and linked to my PayPal account (and was told the account was “PayPal verified”), it is now showing that it is no longer linked. And now when I try and link it again, it will not let me. So I am stuck and PayPal has been no help.
If so many people did not only accept PayPal payments I would not use them. I am so frustrated.

I think this story in the NYT sums up the real reason PayPal wants to verify you. It is all about the money, not fraud.
