PayPal Can’t Verify Valid Address Through Experian
We are a known and valid small business. We waited the stated 60 days to apply for a Paypal Debit card. We didn’t really need the Paypal Debit card, given that we’ve linked our own bank account to Paypal along with a card we already have. We only applied for one to easily access funds that customers have paid to us.
PayPal asked for verification of our business address and we sent it. We also reminded them that they were able to verify the same address previously with our linked bank accounts, credit card and state/government issued identifications. They said though they could verify who we were, but they could not verify the address through Experian. We were told that we would need to order a credit report so that we could talk to Experian about updating our address (because Experian won’t talk to you on the phone without having a credit report number). What’s funny is that Experian DOES have the address listed, even though Paypal claims they can’t see it on Experian.
So we sent the verification that Experian gave us and the problem is still unresolved with Paypal. The account is still in a limited status. What is really bothersome is that after they told us that we were denied a debit card, they sent an email stating that we had been approved for the debit card. When we called to ask why the account was still limited even though we had finally been approved for the debit card, the customer service representative in the limitations department stated that the Paypal debit department had different policies than her area, and she couldn’t really tell me what happened with them because she didn’t know!
So the next day, we received a notification from Paypal saying that our “appeal” had been denied and that we were not approved for the debit card. Isn’t that nice? Our business is paid by several other businesses that pay through Paypal, which means that our business has no way to get paid, if Paypal does not lift the limitation. According to Paypal, we can receive money, we just can’t take it out for 180 days or until this matter is resolved.
We’ve done everything that Paypal has asked of us, yet they continue to backflip and ask us to jump through hoops. So much for small businesses spurring on the recovery of the economy: you can’t hire people and spend, if you don’t have access to the funds to do so.
