Paypal screwed me on a auction that didnt sell on ebay

I tried to sell a few rare figurines on ebay for a starting bid of $400. After no biders and the auction ended i recieved an email asking to buy the items, they offered $360 incl postage. I bite the bullet and agree to it, i mentioned that i have the original boxes for these items and can get hold of them in 4 weeks time from my paretns and will send them to him and only charge him the cost of postage. Several days later he recieves the rare action figurines and opens a paypal claim against me, he claims that one of them is damaged. Short version was i said i didnt send it like that luckly i took out postal insurance for $400. He wasnt happy and took it up with paypal. I responded in a email to paypal that i didnt send the item damaged and that it had insurance. The case ended, the buyer won. I viewed the claim and paypal didnt show my email response even thow i sent it? The buyer has 10 days to refund and my paypal account is in the negative and i have to pay double postage?
The buyer emails me and says he wants the original boxes sent to him. i said but didnt paypal tell u to send the items with tracking to me??? He now claims he wants the items and wants me to send him the boxes for free. I am under alot of finacial stress and really cant take this loss so i offer him to go halves int he postage costs of these boxes (which was quoted $60 + tracking) he refuses to meet me half way and demands if he pays for the original boxes for the figurines he would want another action figurine for free (i was selling a large bulk lot u see and he only wanted a couple of them) Iv emailed him back saying to return the goods. I have 100% ebay feedback, iv always paid my sellers imediately, iv never had any major conflicts, and iv always paid my paypal fees when selling goods. Iam now going to be down $400 and probably wont see my goods again or if i do iam going to have them returned damaged. O and as for the Aus Post insurance claim after 3 weeks they still cant find my claim number, it doesnt exist on their system, iv got all the reciepts and evidence that iv lodged it and no one will help and see my situation. The buyer had only 7 more days to supply a tracking number to paypal, what ever happens next when its all sorted i will be closing my paypal account and will never look back. I had no seller protection at all with paypal.

Paypal screws so many people it isn’t EVEN funny. That sucks for you but know that there are many out there in your shoes, whether been screwed on an auction item, scheming buyer, scamming seller, “suspicious” deposits, ete…you name it…paypal does it and never to your advantage. Close your account and you’ll be better off in the long run.

I gave up selling with Paypal a while just for the fact that there is no seller protection. I got tired of getting ripped off over and over again and there was nothing I could do about it. I found a merchant account that I can use for selling on eBay and I have not had any problem since. Why can’t Paypal figure it our if other companies can do is pain free PayPal could be able to do it as well. I guess Paypal gets most of their revenue ripping people off.

YOu hit the nail on the head there! there is absolutely NO seller protection through paypal. The only thing they care about is themselves. This is why I stopped using them a few months ago. After getting screwed over time after time I started doing some research and saw all the shit they do. Good riddence to Paypal1

You couldn’t be more right when you said they offer no protection for their sellers. I got ripped off by a buyer and paypal refused to help me and automatically sided with the buyer even though I was in the right and had proof. I ran as fast s I could away from paypal and haven’t regretted my decision yet
