PayPal limited my verified account
I was pretty happy with Paypal until a couple months ago. They had helped me get my money back from a less than reputable merchant, and my account was verified fairly quickly. The problems started when I logged into my account to find that it was to be limited. I asked them why it was going to be limited, and they refused to answer (though I did get a response saying so). I was confused. I had just verified my address and such, the previous month. I went to the resolution center and saw that three things were required to remove the limits (which made it impossible to send or receive money). I needed to provide proof of address by providing a utility bill in my name. I had just confirmed my address through a letter the past month. They wanted a scan of my licence and also of my social security card. I cannot provide a utility bill in my name because the utility bills are not in my name. I did nothing wrong and am being required to provide all of this information. Since then they have still refused to tell me why my account was limited and refuse to let me take any of my money. They won’t let me opt out of sending a utility bill even though I cannot provide one. I have requested a check for the remaining balance, but they claim that they have not successfully verified my identity and cannot release the funds. I am thinking of hiring a lawyer because there is no way that they can deny me my own money and not give a reason

This is the problem with paypal. They can do as they please because they are not federally regulated. I too had my account limited and they asked for all the same information. Their was no way in hell i was going to send them a copy of my SS card. Thankfully they only had a couple hundred dollars on hold and I finally got it back about 6 months or so later
I had my account limited 4 months ago and Paypal has never to this day told me why they limited my account. I had like you done nothing wrong, my account is verified and I have both my bank account and Paypal Master Card linked to my account. I sent in all the docs that paypal requested and 3 days later I got the notification that my account was permanently suspended and that I can have my money in 180 days. No chance of appeal either it said. For Paypal’s sake they better give me my money in 2 months of they will have a serious problem on their hands
