Paypal limited my account – after 9 years of being a good customer!
I’ve been a subscriber with Paypal since 2002, and have been in good standing all the while. Recently, my 16 year old son got me in hot water though. He has had a Paypal account for a year or more, and has had no issues (although now I find out he was not supposed to have one due to his age). He started a second one with the idea that sponsors of a local community outreach program could make donations to the outreach through a web site he set up. Well, he made the mistake of setting it up as a non-profit, and when Paypal asked for additional information he tried to change it to another type.
The account ended up getting limited, and when I called and they found out he was only 16, it was all over for me and my son.
Now I’ve had my account limited due to being “linked” to other accounts with limitations. (I had sent him $10 to test it out). I’ve faxed in a clear explanation, but the resolution was firm. I’m done and need to find another provider. I feel sick. I’ve used Paypal for so many things, including Ebay buying and selling, and you get quite comfortable with having this service available.
I am very disappointed that Paypal provides no process by which you can clear your name or engage in restoring your services over time. Brutal, cold and non-customer focused are how they have treated me for my son’s mistake and my association with him.
