Complaint:

Rolling Reserve: I have had my eBay account for over 5 years and I have NEVER had a charge back or any bad feedback. I make and sell doll clothes. My eBay and Paypal fees exceed $80. every month and still they put 10% of my daily sales in reserve for 60 days. Doll Clothes… 5/5 %100 feedback… seller for 5 years in good standing…

PayPal Print Postage Labels: NEVER use PayPal Shipping without checking what they are charging with the USPS… I recently tried that. First package, Parcel Post was $14. I paid, printed and stuck the label on the box.. Second package,Parcel Post smaller, weighed less… $17. I couldn’t believe it.. I cancelled the order and checked the USPS website. I found out that the first package should have been only $7.50 and the second one only $6. I immediately cancelled the postage label on the first package and took both to the local post office and shipped them. HOW can PayPal get away with this? I printed out the info and everything was exactly the same at the post office except PayPal was charging almost double what USPS charged for postage…

Credit Card Charges and Refunds: Ok, so now I am completely exasperated with PayPal so I start checking my online banking to make sure they are not trying to slip one over on me there too. And guess what? They are doing it there too.. On 01-17 I paid with PayPal using my Visa Card, $29.95 for a program called RegCure. It was not what I needed, I called the company for a refund. When looking at my online banking for my Visa Credit Card, I see on 01-19 the charge from PayPal Safecart but it is not for the amount of $29.95 that I authorized but $35.. And the Refund on 01-22 was for only $25.32 I sent an email to the company issuing the refund and complained about this and they assured me they had refunded the complete amount of $29.95. Is it legal for PayPal to do this? I thought only the amount I authorize is allowed and if I get a refund from a company shouldn’t I get the complete refund? Now as a buyer also they got me. On 01-25 I bought an item on eBay, for $13. I paid with PayPal to the seller and the total on my receipt from my PayPal account plainly says $13.00 However, they charged my credit card $19.95. How can PayPal charge my credit card more than my purchase? I phoned PayPal and was floored by their answer. It seems that I had a negative balance on my account so they just added that amount to my next purchase on my credit card to cover that. How do you get a negative balance in PayPal? Especially with over $200. being held in Rolling Reserve. It seems, that when I transfer money to my banque account leaving $0 in my PayPal account, the same day they took 20% of that day’s sales for the “rolling reserve” but because I had already transferred it to my banque account, that put my account in a negative balance.. SO even though I have over $200. in Rolling Reserve, they sneak this in on my credit card with another charge..

I have now removed my Credit Card as a back up funding source and opened a Google CheckOut account along with a store at the Atomic Mall which is similar to eBay but allows you to chose whatever method of payment you want. It also only charges you ONE fee of 3% of anything you sell. No hidden costs and no forcing you to use PayPal. I can even accept money orders and bank transfers. I was also able to import my eBay feedback and listings. Yes, it will take time to get my customers to follow me and some may not, but for me it is worth the risk just to be rid of PayPal and their underhanded schemes. I hope this account of my PayPal experiences will keep someone else from getting suckered into their rhetoric.
