PayPal demanding receipts for family handed down items

I had 24 silver dollars and sold them on Ebay because I needed the money. Now PayPal wants to see the receipts for them. I had them for years and can’t provide them any proof.

They locked my account and I can’t get the money. Now I don’t have the money nor the silver dollars. They said after 180 days they will make a decision if the funds will be released, but my account will be closed if I don’t provide receipts. I can’t believe this happened to me. I use to love dealing with PayPal.

Hello Alice. Sorry to hear about your situation.

This is a common problem with PayPal. Their system frequently flags accounts for various reasons, and innocent people suffer because of a faulty system.

Here is what you need to do-

Call PayPal’s customer service department. When you reach a representative, explain your problem to them. They will not be able to help you, but you must explain it to them first. When they rattle off their generic policy mumbo-jumbo, ask to speak to a supervisor.

They will not want to transfer you to a supervisor, you must be persistent. Be calm, and definitely do not be rude or they will hang up on you. Just get to a supervisor.

Once you reach a supervisor, explain your situation once again. The supervisor has a little more authority than the first representative you talked with, but it is likely he or she will be unable to help you.

If the supervisor cannot help you, ask to talk to the person who made the decision to limit your account. Again, be persistent because he/she will not want to give you this information.

Once you obtain the email address of the person who made the decision to limit your account, you will need to email him or her with your problem. Find out why he or she decided to limit the account, and ask what you need to do to restore it.

It may take several phone calls and emails, but this is how to get access to your money again.

    Please update with your progress!
