Paypal are the only pirates in my mind

I sell machinery on Ebay and was accepting Pay Pal payments for thousands of dollars per transaction. I have over 500 feedbacks. All positive.

All of a sudden I go to transfer $6,000. to my bank and find they have put a 21 day hold on the money. When I called them I was told that my money would be released as soon as the customer got the machine. I explained to the girl that the machine was on its way to Australia and would not arrive for 6 weeks providing pirates don’t get the ship. The pirate part was a joke, of course. What she said next stunned me. She said I better hope nothing bad happens to the ship because I was responsible for the machine getting to Australia and if it did not arrive or was damaged, they would give the $6,000. back to the buyer period and of story. I told her I make the buyer buy insurance for the shipment. She said I was not allowed to do that and it didn’t matter anyway, because I was resposible.

I have not used Pay Pal since.
