Paypal 21 day hold despite 8 years of 100% feedback!
Similar to many in this post, paypal decided to place a hold on releasing my funds for 21days after I recently sold six items – all to happy customers! I’ve issued a total of two refunds in the past 8 years and have 100% feedback. I maintain a ‘no hassle return policy’ for clothing if it does not fit – fair enough – but it seems I’m being penalised for good customer service and a top feedback rating.
I’d like to add that this payment hold suspiciously appeared after selling a heavy item on ebay that was collection only – I remarked in the ad that the buyer could ‘pay me in person so to skip paypal fees’. The hold appeared two days later!!
My e-mail to paypal customer service has gone completely unanswered so my value as a customer apparently is zero after giving them a lot of business. I’m happy to state here that I will now avoid using paypal at ALL costs and will actively seek to both inform and discourage people from using paypal on ALTERNATIVE websites I will now be using in the future to sell items.
Thanks to this website for letting me post my well-founded complaints. I’m sure paypal reads this website and am not surprised if they occasionally threaten people with court action. It is not unheard of sadly.

I also found out the hard way that Paypal has placed a hold on funds. After contacting Paypal I was told that all sellers will have holds placed on their accounts for up to 21 days or if you obtain a confirmation of delivery, two days after buyer receives items funds will be released but you must call them.
The lame excuse the Paypal rep told me was that it makes us better sellers if the funds are held. What a joke. I don’t need paypal to hold my funds to make me a better seller. A lousy buyer is going to leave negative feedback regardless because E-bay is swamped with buyers who take advantage of sellers. I too have 100% positive feedback. I have never not refunded a buyer even if I thought I shouldn’t have because buyers have the advantage of leaving a negative feedback which in turn could and can ruin business.
I believe this is paypal’s way of collecting interest on the billions of dollars they bring in from hard working sellers, no other excuse for it. Isn’t this somehow against the law to change their rules in the middle of everything. I say see you later Paypal your not the only site.. Bidpay and others exist.
On the last comment — from what I can see, BidPay shut down in 2007.
