Limited PayPal account – it’s a Catch 22

I have not used my PayPal acct for over a year. It is a personal account, only ever been used a handful of times to buy stuff from Ebay.

I have been notified that the account is now limited. When I asked why, the PayPal reps refused to tell me. My ‘Why’ question has now apparently resulted in a ‘Refused appeal’ (I didn’t realise I was making an appeal). Now they won’t let me change any details on the account or close it, because it’s limited.

Furthermore, they won’t let me have another account (like I’d want one after this), and they apparently have ‘sophisticated techniques’ in the application process so that if I ever re-apply, they’ll know its me. Customer services were the definition of rude, and PayPal basically told me to go away. I’m still none the wiser as to why my account is limited or why I’m judged to be a risk. What a service.
