Had tracking info buy buyer still got money back

Shipped an iphone that someone had bought for 510, then they reversed the transaction because the tracking said the item had never gotten there. It turns out that USPS made a mistake and thats why the online tracking system was not updating but they printed me an internal report which said that it did get there, and paypal still did not let me get my money back. What is the point of having tracking information on the stuff I ship is it is not going to matter in the end?
