Forced To Verify When Closing PayPal Account
On 3/26/2011 at approx. 8:00-8:30 pm I began trying to withdraw the balance which has been sitting in my Paypal account for more than a year so that I can close the account. Paypal wants to send it back to my bank account, but I do NOT wish to do this. PayPal’s website says a check can be sent to me, and this is what I want.
However, after jumping through multiple hoops including setting up a new password and creating new security questions (for what reason since I am closing my account?) I get to the final page and am told that I must “fax us a copy of your utility bill, credit card statement, and driver’s license”.
Why? Simply because I live in the country and for more than 40 years have used a PO Box as my mailing address. Well, I’m on the phone complaining to a customer service rep and when I ask to speak to a supervisor she puts me on hold and then never comes back.
Yes, PayPal definitely sucks. And of course now their offices are “closed for the day”. Whatever happened to service for all the $$$ they rake in?
