Delayed PayPal Transfers Wrongly Marked Complete

So, I initiated a transfer of funds from my credit union account to my PayPal account.  This was done on August 2nd, and was being used to pay someone for services rendered. After authorizing the transfer, I was informed via’ the website that the transfer would take eight consecutive days to complete.

To avoid this lengthy process in the future, I linked my Visa credit card to the account so that future transfers would be immediate. This is important to me, especially with this new business associate in order to avoid lengthy and unprofessional delays. I prefer the air of unorganized business practices be permanently nixxed from the equation.

So anyway, I patiently watched the Paypal website for status updates until today, when the transfer was scheduled to be completed. At noon, it still had not been transferred. So I contacted Paypal customer service with my concerns, and was told in no uncertain terms “by 7pm this evening the transaction will be complete”.

At 8:30pm, the transaction status still read pending.  I again contacted Paypal customer service and was told that the payment was still processing though the clearing house, and that despite the fact that I was told it would be completed today, the process could take one to three days longer. In what world is a guaranteed date one in which the deadline is continually moved forward?

A few days later I initiated a transfer of funds from my Paypal account to my credit union, this time for a completely different reason. I’ll skip the gory details on this one, but despite waiting too many days for a simple transfer of funds, the website showed the transaction as completed when it was not. The PayPal customer service hooligans informed me that another few days may be needed to actually verify the funds exist and complete the transaction. Quite obviously Paypal’s definition of “complete” is not the same as the one in my dictionary.

Paypal also uses a different calendar that the rest of the Western world. August 8th completion date, in Paypal-speak, actually means sometime after the physical date of August 8th.

I am beyond irritated, I am beyond fed-up. Paypal needs to stop treating their customers like personal interest-bearing accounts.
