12 years means nothing to paypal
I have been a member in good standing with paypal since 2002. The first time I get a decent balance in my paypal account they put a hold on my money for NO reason. I have nothing negative in ebay or paypal and this is what I received this morning:
We’re writing to let you know about a change to your PayPal account.
Starting 3/8/2012, money from payments you receive will be placed in a pending balance for up to 21 days. By doing this, we’re making sure that there’s enough money in your account to cover potential refunds or claims.
Even though you can’t access the money right away, please ship orders quickly and communicate with your customers. After 21 days, you can withdraw money from each payment as long as the customer hasn’t filed a dispute, chargeback, claim, return, or reversal.
The money may be available sooner if:1.We can confirm that the item was delivered and 3 days elapse. This gives the buyer enough time to review the order and file a dispute if necessary.
2.Your buyer leaves positive feedback. (Applies only to eBay items)
This change isn’t necessarily permanent. We’ll review your account every 35 days and re-evaluate if we should continue to hold your payments. If we decide to stop holding payments, we’ll email you to let you know.

I just received a similar email to the one Kate Roswell wrote about. I have been a member since 2004 and just in the last 6 months been put on “account hold” twice! Let me elaborate-my father was dying of cancer in the liver, adrenals, and bone. So the last couple of months I was taking care of him. Honestly the last thing on my mind was Ebay and Paypal. So, due to not making an excess of 20 transactions in the last 3 months I am once again on “account hold”. Never mind the fact that I have a 100% rating that I work hard to keep. Never mind that I have never had a complaint.
I called Paypal to get this information. So, the gist of this is Ebay/Paypal discriminate against the small, non-store-owning seller. I am so incensed. What ever happened to “Customer Service”??? I feel like a child being punished! If they can send an auto-email telling you that your account is being held-can they not send a reminder that there might be an issue? This is just BAD BUSINESS. And if there is a way around it,they might not get more of mine
